Your information, in plain English
Creator Ranks is a directory and booking marketplace for UK UGC creators. We publish professional information creators have made public, and we keep the account and booking data needed to run the service. We do not sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising.
Who is responsible
Creator Ranks is the controller for the personal data described here. We are based in London, United Kingdom. Email privacy@creatorranks.uk for any privacy request.
Why a creator profile may already be here
We build some profiles from public professional sources: creator portfolio sites, public TikTok and Instagram profile pages, agency rosters, public marketplace pages and brand case studies. This is our notice under Article 14 of the UK GDPR when the information did not come directly from you. We also email each person whose published address we hold, to tell them what we hold and how to remove it.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests. The interest is straightforward: helping a brand find a UGC creator and assess their public work and published rates before getting in touch. We limit that use in four ways:
- We use professional information that is already public.
- We do not publish private contact details.
- We name the source and the date it was checked.
- You can correct or remove a profile without an account. Managing a profile requires free email confirmation.
We do not buy contact lists, use leaked data or collect information from private or logged-in pages. We do not knowingly collect special-category data for a profile.
What we process
| Data | What it includes | Why we use it | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brand shortlist emails | Work email, the fortnightly-email consent wording and version, and signup time. Consent is recorded separately from the original launch waitlist. | Your opt-in to the brand shortlist every two weeks. Existing one-off launch signups are not automatically enrolled. Contact us to withdraw before launch; every mailing will include an unsubscribe link. | Until you withdraw or the shortlist service ends; a minimal suppression record is needed to avoid sending again after withdrawal. |
| Ranking applications | Name, email, UK location, category, portfolio and optional work links, your note, consent and private review status. Email-confirmed accounts control access; existing private update links remain valid until expiry. | Consent: reviewing the work you submit and contacting you about that application. No newsletter subscription or automatic publication. Contact us to withdraw your submission. | Applications expire 90 days after your last update. Expired applications are removed by our retention cleanup. You can request deletion sooner. |
| Public creator profiles | Professional name and handles, public social and portfolio links, region, links to published work, published rates, brands named on the creator’s own pages, and the follower count their public profile shows. Where the creator’s page carries them, we save copies of the profile picture and still frames from their videos so the page displays reliably. The videos themselves are never copied: they play from the creator’s own page. | Legitimate interests: helping brands find and assess UK UGC creators using professional information the creator has already made public. | Until the profile is removed, the source is no longer public, or the information is no longer relevant. |
| Published business email | The email address a creator published for enquiries. It is held privately and never shown on the site. | Legitimate interests: sending the creator the notice that tells them about their profile, and passing on a brand’s request to book them. | While the profile exists. After a removal, only a one-way fingerprint is kept, so the address is never added again. |
| Creator accounts and profiles | Email address confirmed by a code, ownership requests, sign-in records, availability, services and rates. Verification codes expire after 10 minutes and account sessions after 30 days. | Contract: providing and securing creator accounts and profiles. | While the profile is live, then up to 12 months. |
| Completed work and evidence | Campaign details, results, source links and any private files supplied for review. | Contract and consent for creator-supplied material; legitimate interests for review records. | Private evidence is deleted after the review period stated when it is collected. Review logs are kept for up to 24 months. |
| Brand accounts and briefs | Work email, name, brand, website, briefs, invitations, messages, hires and confirmations. | Contract: running a brief and recording a booking. | While the account is active, then 24 months. Transaction records are kept for 6 years. |
| Payments | Booking fee, payment status and payment reference. Card details go directly to Stripe and do not reach us. | Contract and legal obligations for accounting. | 6 years. |
| Corrections, removals and support | The request, our response and enough information to avoid republishing something you asked us to remove. | Legal obligations and legitimate interests in handling requests properly. | Up to 24 months. Suppression records may be kept longer in non-readable form. |
| Waitlist sign-ups | Email address, whether you are a creator or a brand, and where you signed up. | Consent: you asked for one email when Creator Ranks opens. Withdraw at any time by replying to it or emailing us. | Until that email is sent, then deleted unless you create an account. Deleted sooner if you ask. |
| Market statistics | Published rates, and the deliverable, agreed value, dates and outcome of bookings made here. | Legitimate interests: publishing aggregate figures such as typical rates, and improving the service. Only aggregates are published, and none identifies a creator, a brand or a booking. | The aggregates are kept. The records behind them follow the rows above. |
| Site use | Aggregate page and event counts. No advertising identifiers and no cross-site profile. | Legitimate interests in understanding whether the service works. | Up to 13 months. |
Who receives it
Published profiles can be seen by anyone who visits the site. Private data goes only to the service providers that run it for us: hosting, database, email, and Stripe for booking-fee payments. A brand contact receives a confirmation request only for a booking made through Creator Ranks, or when a creator gives us their details for that purpose. Professional advisers may receive information where necessary. Where a provider is outside the UK, we rely on UK adequacy regulations (including the UK–US data bridge for certified companies) or the ICO’s international data transfer agreement or addendum.
We do not sell personal data, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use private evidence to train models.
Cookies and measurement
We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers. A colour preference may be stored in your browser. We count aggregate page and event types on our own service so we can see what is being used.
Your rights
| Right | What it means here |
|---|---|
| Access | Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you and where it came from. |
| Correction | Ask us to correct anything inaccurate. Published information can be challenged through the correction form. |
| Removal | Ask us to delete your profile. You do not need an account or a reason. |
| Restriction | Ask us to pause processing while we resolve a dispute. We normally unpublish first. |
| Objection | Object to processing based on legitimate interests, including publication of a public-source profile. |
| Portability | Ask for creator-controlled profile data in a machine-readable format. |
| Withdraw consent | Withdraw consent for anything you supplied on that basis. This does not affect earlier lawful processing. |
| Complain | Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. You do not have to contact us first. |
Using these rights is free. We only ask for the identification needed to make sure we are acting on the right person’s data. We respond within one calendar month, usually sooner.
Automated decisions
We do not make decisions about anyone by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects. Profiles are not scored or ranked. If that changes, we will update this notice first and publish how the method works, what it uses and how to challenge it.
Children
The service is for professional creators aged 18 or over. If we learn that a profile belongs to someone under 18, we remove it.
